June Athlete of the Month: Jenn Kauffman

Congratulations are in order for Rising’s June athlete of the month, Jenn Kauffman! A dedicated attendee of our 7:30 am boot camp class, Jenn started CrossFit with our first New You Challenge Group in the fall of 2016.  After six grueling weeks of the challenge, she decided to become a full time Rising member and has been kicking butt ever since.  Get to know a little bit more about her story below!

Date you started crossfit: September 2016

Day job: Veterinary technician

Athletic/fitness background: I didn’t participate in sports as a kid. When I was in my 20’s, I would go to the gym several times a week.

What made you decide to start CrossFit? I wanted a change. I struggle with my weight and it was creeping up again. I knew CrossFit would whip me into shape.

Something that we don’t know about you is…: I used to be a professional chef prior to returning to school for my veterinary technology degree.

Favorite quote: You won’t know until you try.

Hobbies/interests outside the gym: spending time with family, cooking, hiking, camping

Favorite CrossFit movement: ab mat sit ups

Least favorite CrossFit movement: those darn wall balls  (editor’s note….why is everyone so mean to the poor wall balls? 😉

What do you love most about CrossFit? I love that the workouts are different from day to day so I never get bored.

What is your biggest challenge with Crossfit? I struggle to increase the weights I use. It’s a work in progress.
