Biography

2013 CrossFit Games Athlete Michelle Crawford is the owner and head coach of Rising CrossFit Ballantyne in Charlotte, NC. A four-time All-American field hockey player for the University of Virginia, Michelle was named New Jersey’s “High School Field Hockey Player of the Century” in 2000 and then went on to play for the National Field Hockey Team, representing the United States at the World Cup, Pan American Games and Olympic Qualifying Trials over the course of four years. After retiring from her international hockey career, Michelle graduated from Wake Forest University Law School in 2003 and practiced law in the south Charlotte area for several years prior to having children. Michelle and her husband Casey reside in Ballantyne with their two daughters, Cadie (7) and Josie (3).

Michelle earned her Level 1 CrossFit certification in December of 2008 and opened her first affiliate, Ballatyne YMCA CrossFit in May of 2010. After serving as the head coach and programmer there for three years, Michelle is excited to relocate her affiliate to the Ballantyne Corners area and launch her dream business, Rising CrossFit Ballantyne.
