September Athlete of the Month: Lindsay Fagan

Congratulations to Rising’s September Athlete of the Month, Lindsay Fagan.  One of our youngest athletes, Lindsay is perfectly described by William Shakespeare’s famous quote from A Midsummer Night’s Dream,

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”

Check out her interesting story, including competitive equestrian vaulting, (you should google it, I did) below.

Date you started crossfit: December 2013

Day job: Student at Charlotte Christian School

Athletic background: I was a competitive equestrian vaulter at the national level. Equestrian vaulting is gymnastics and dance on the back of a cantering/galloping horse (look it up on YouTube!!)

What made you decide to start crossfit? My P.E. coach at school told me he was going to be programming some daily workouts in the gym and I figured it would be something fun to do to get stronger for vaulting. I was hooked from the first day.

Favorite crossfit movement: Handstand pushups, handstand walking, toes to bar

Least favorite crossfit movement: DOUBLE UNDERS!! And snatch

What do you love most about crossfit? I love the community and the relationships I’ve been able to build through crossfit. I also love that people of all different abilities and walks of life can all workout together and become a close-knit family.

What comes easily to you in crossfit?  Any gymnastic-type movement

What is your biggest challenge with crossfit? Realizing that success does not happen overnight and results from hard work are not immediate.
